    The Research Component of the National Center of Excellence in Women's Health at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus (UPR-MSC) was created to identify and establish priorities in basic and clinical research as well as to develop a research agenda that will address women's health issues relevant to our Hispanic population. To achieve these goals we focused on the following objectives:

Assessment of ongoing research efforts in women's health at the Medical Sciencies Campus;

 Development of a directory of faculty who are conducting research related to women's health;

Identification of key health needs of Puerto Rican's women and its incorporation in a research agenda;

Establishment of a research program that stimulate collabora- tions and interdisciplinary approaches;

Dissemination of research-related information.

     Dr. Emma Fernández-Repollet, Director of the Research Compo nent at the UPR-MSC, have coordinated these research activities, which are supported by the US Department of Health and Human Services, the UPR-MSC Research Centers in Minority Program and the Deanship of Academic Affairs.
